i just ordered a polished paxton kit yesterday for my 97 gts. i did research on it and both kits are good but it depends on how much power you want to make at the end and when you want it.
i would have been happy with either. so i went with what i liked. my mechanic had some vipers at his shop and one had a paxton and one that had a roe. he took me for a spin. the roe viper was first, that car was putting out about 580rwhp (not sure how much boost he was running, it was a 98gts with headers and catback) at start up i didnt even know it had a s/c. when he floored it i heard that whine which sounds great!! throws you back int he seat right away power. i thought i was sold on that kit just because of the whine until he took me for a spin int he paxton car.
this car was a 98 gts, with headers, cat back, heads, cam, rockers too. this car was putting out about 680rwhp on the 7#s. when he started it up i heard the whistle sound and at idle you can really hear it. i loved it! we went down the street, it had power on the low end but not as punchy as the roe. you could almost tell when the paxton started making power and thats when you got thrown back in your seat. the sucking sound is very loud with the windows open. i could hear it over the exhaust. also, the blow off between shifts sounded great too!!
all in all, i loved both kits, but the bov and the idle on the paxton is what sold me ive had vorteched vett's and mustangs and i love that whistle at idle sound. also, the ROE isnt carb legal and i live in california so thats a problem.
i cant wait to get it installed!! next week!!
*edit* the paxton is easy to make power, but once you're reaching the 650rwhp mark its time for a new fuel system. which isnt bad, i got priced at 1500$ installed to handle the smaller paxton pulley.
