Frequently Asked Questions about new site (FAQs)
When I click on a title, it doesn't take me to the last thread I read like the old site did.
There are three post buttons for every post.
To the left of the title - this little icon will be there when there are new posts on the thread (and the thread is in bold), clicking on it takes you to the first unread post.
The title itself, when clicked, will always take you to the first post in the thread.
Under the Last Post column, the arrow there will always take you to the Last Post displayed in the column.
So, as you can see, there are several alternative ways to bring up a thread depending on where you want to start.
1. How many rep points does one "bar" stand for?
100 points for every bar up to 500 points, after which each additional bar requires 200 points.
2. What is "Rep Power" versus "Rep Points"?
Rep Power is the number of points you can assign to another user. Negative points are assigned at 50% of your rep power while positive points are 100% of your power.
Rep Points is the number of points you have collected from other users.
3. How is Rep Power determined?
Everyone starts with 1 power point, you can earn +1 power for every year you are a member, +1 power for every 2,500 posts you make, +1 for every 1,000 rep points you have.
You must have 100 posts on this site and 10 rep points for your points to affect other users (otherwise your rep power has no effect).
Only threads posted in the past 30 days can be repped.
4. Why can't I give more rep today?
You can give 30 reputation clicks every 24 hour period - not every day starting at midnight, a period covering the previous 24 hour window.
5. Why can't I read "all threads"?
Because it's not a feature of this software.
6. What happened to my "favorite threads"?
They were lost during the upgrade.
7. What happened to my avatar?
If you had one and it's missing; it was lost during the upgrade.
8. What happened to my supporter tag and those of others?
I haven't gotten around to importing all that data and setting up the new supporter programs.
9. When will fill in the blank feature be available?
When I get to it and not a moment sooner.
10. Hey, big fella, how about some reps?
I'll try, but fulfilling requests is turning into a fulltime job and I'm afraid to ask the question, "What is more important, updating the code or reps?"
