Gears on the Viper make no perceptible difference running two fairly even Vipers side by side anyway. The 3.45 pulls harder (when he has traction) and not as hard when he has to shift and after he has shifted into the next gear where the HP and TQ multiplication of the previous gear on the 3.07 is higher.

3.45's or 3.55's just make the average driver spin his tires uncontrollably anyway.

Think of all the people who say, "Oh, the Viper is so hard to drive compared to my Corvette......." ==> Imagine if they had some 18% more HP and TQ multiplication, they would really shit their pants!


I think the new Vette might be harder to drive on the street with the 3.42's although the higher rev limit should make the length of the Vette gears similar to that of the Viper.
