I made one of these years ago, works great and requires nothing to keep running but a supply of oil, about 4 gallons a day. Easy and inexpensive to build, I fire mine up in November and shut it down in March, no maintenance,smoke or smell. I have it in the basement and heats the whole house except during sub zero days or real windy days, most times it is a little too warm since there is no thermostat on it and no way of turning it down, another words it is either on or off.
