Re: Death....
True story:
My gana (Dutch for grandmother) was dying in the hospital. The doctor told us she wouldn't last the night so we all stayed at the hospital. My dad and his two sisters and one of my cousins were all in the room when she took her last breath. The nurse got the doctor and he pronounced her dead at which point we all started crying and hugging.
I don't remember the official time, but about 30-45 seconds later she opened her eyes and inhaled an extremely deep breath. It was the freakiest thing I've ever experienced.
Long story short, she lived for another 3 months (my cousin was 9 months pregnant at the time and we figure she wanted to be around for the babies birth).
I asked her what happened during those 45 seconds and she said she remembered nothing. No light, no spirits, no nothing. I know it's still speculative, as I'm sure it would be tough to remember anything when your brain isn't working, but I had to ask her anyway.
There's no point to this story, it just fit with the thread. Personally, I don't believe in the afterlife, but I certainly don't fault people that do.
