I have a dyn IP + I run ipconfig /renew every 20 min and I got that IP to stick for about a year now [img]/images/graemlins/laughing.gif[/img].

I considered getting a static IP, but they charge more of course, and they need to toast my service for 2 month or some lame ass story like that.
That or I need to get a second line then kill the first one.

I'm not crapping greenbacks anymore, so no way.

I use Register.com for my domains and they let you tweak the SOA (source of authority) and I set very frequent refresh times for the DNS, so if I lose my IP I can get re-indexed fairly quickly.

The good thing with an external hosting co is they have redundant network access, backups, generators, etc...

re-Godaddy: I didn't check them out extensively, but I helped another buddy who parked his domain there, and it's a low entry fee, but then you get dinged for every thing you want to do after that...
Maybe the hosting is no-nonsense, but I had bad vibes from that first impression.
