What if someone other than Rush had said it - say a black sports analyst? Would the comment have generated such a firestorm? But when you have someone as white as Rush (perceived as a racist) making the comment, people probably have good reason to suspect his choice of words.

Rush is no idiot - he's very media savy and probably picked those very words to create this controversy.
