It's just that large land masses have a hard time looking beyond their perimeter. Texas is the joke of the US, and its size is the main factor. How can you talk about internal events, and the rest of the world, in a 30 min news flash?
It's difficult, so internal events are the first pick, resulting in hardly anyone learning about the rest of the world.
Well, for us foreigners, the USA is to the world what Texas is to the US.
It's not really your fault, it's the way it currently is.
It will take some effort to change it, and perhaps less sports in school, more academics would be the way.
