I often advise people the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow won't pay for the gas to get there. When they say it is not about the money, I ask them which charity would they like to contribute their potential recovery. Not surprisingly, I've never sent a client's proceeds check to a charity.
In my experience, the people that want to sue someone because of "principle" are the same ones that only want to do it on contingency...
