Hitler and the cleric lost, but the idea remained in the minds of the Iraqi power elite. Saddam wanted to realize that unfulfilled dream. The OPEC countries were afraid of him. He invaded Kuwait, and had plans to invade Saudi Arabia. He held that it was his and Iraq's destiny to have control over the oil in the Middle East.
On Glenn Beck the other night I herd something to the effect of OPEC purposely holing back 2.1 million barrels of oil a week and saudi holding back around 1 million barrels a week to keep the cost up to make them more $$$.

In the Bible days they had legitimate plages of various kinds, but now a days it seems we have plagues of fear, greed, lust and power where enough is never enough. And backwards thinking that throwing lots more money at problems will magically fix them.
