This might be up there with some dimwits post about hood speakers
but, after reading another thread over at the morgue, it occured to me that what my stock shifter does may not be "normal". It turns around ,or spins, freely and you can lift it straight up...I kinda like it as the shift knob moves to the angle of my wrist and it helps going into the right side gears BUT is it supposed to do that ????
