You care sounds great. I can't bring myself to restore mine. It has its flaws but its all original including the spare. Mine has a weird color combo. Red with a black interior and a white convertible top. I would have thought a black top would have been the norm.
The car was originally bought in DC and luckily the DC motor vehicle dept keeps all the records from back then. I even have the repo order from the original owner. The 2nd owner drove it everyday until the 1974 gas crisis when he parked it and forgot about it. I bought it in 1988 with 39,000 miles when he pushed it out of his garage because he was moving. It was only 2 blocks from my parents house. Everyone knew the car was there but the wife was an angry drunk so my original attempt didn't work so well. I've put 5,000 on it in the past 20 years - many of it at the track. The rest is history.
