I'm glad she's okay too and you're a great friend to help her and her parents out.

I was ass-ended by a drunk driver when I was in high school. I was the last of three cars waiting to make a left turn and he never even hit his brakes. Unfortunately, he was a lawyer in the small city I grew up in and to the best of my knowledge, he was never cited and nothing ever happened to him except for his insurance paying for the damages to my car. He wreaked of booze and although both myself and my friend (passenger) asked the cop who responded to give him a field sobriety test, it never happened and he was allowed to leave. Keep in mind this was around 1980 though and things were different then.
