That's awesome. I was privileged enough to be one of a handful of civilians to take part in the commissioning of the USS Chung Hoon (DDG-93), an Arleigh Burke-class Aegis Destroyer back in September of 2004 at Pearl Harbor, HI.
It was quite an event and we got to step on deck for a tour of the ship. Interestingly, the tour was seemingly a free-for-all and we ended up in areas of the ship that I was sure I wasn't supposed to be.
