If you're just looking for a playtoy for occasional use, I would strongly recommend a TaG kart with an onboard starter.

I would also NOT recommend driving on the streets. Some teenager in a jacked up 4wd is liable to drive right over the top of you and scramble your brains. I know someone that this happened to.
